Timeline

1981
Born in Kansas on June 22, 1981. He was in a hurry to be born. We arrived at the hospital at 4:30 and he was born at 4:41!! He has been on a run ever since. His two sisters welcomed him and he was "their baby" until we lost him.

June 1987
Eric had eye surgery on his lazy eye. The anesthia smelled like root beer and Eric was never able to drink root beer after that day. The surgery was not completly successful and Eric still had a lazy eye. Thus in junior high his nickname became "Evil Eye."

3rd thru 5th grades
Eric was wild at indoor soccer. No one stopped him, and he was all over the court. This would begin a life long commitment to not backing down to anyone. Eric was not a big man but he was a brave one.

Junior High
Eric continued his sports and played junior high football. He was once again the star player and nothing stopped him. We were so proud to watch his determination .

June 26, 1995
Eric's nephew, Tyler was born.  Eric was Tyler's hero, and Tyler wore him out playing football and wrestling, but Eric loved it. They spent happy days fishing and playing video games. They loved to tease each other.

September 21,2003
Eric lost a very close friend, JaJa. He took this very hard. He is now with JaJa and they can continue on with their next journey.

February 21, 2004
Eric's best friend was killed. Eric was so hurt by the pain and loss. He stood at Darren's casket and wrung his hands. It was the most terrible moment of his life, and the most painful of mine. It is one consolation to know that the two of them are together again

Eric watched Marcy graduate with her Associate's Degree today. It was a very proud moment for all of us, but Eric was especially proud. He went to all of the programs with Marcy that day. Then after they all went to celebrate.

June 5, 2005
Eric was hit by a semi truck as he walked down the highway. The truck has not been found and we don't know all the circumstances. All we know is that our dear one is gone. Mom, Dad, Tracy, Marcy and Tyler will forever keep him in our hearts and in our prayers.

April 21, 2006
Today Sidney Gleason recieved the death penalty for killing Darren Wornkey and Mikki Martinez. His accomplice, Damian Thompson, got  25 years in prison because he was to have testified against Gleason. But when Thompson got on the stand, he refused to testify. So he may end up on death row with Gleason.
We still are no closer to knowing who the trucker was that hit Eric that horrible night. We may never know. But God knows and He will be sure that justice is served one day. It is a relief to have these two murderers behind bars, and this trial finished. God bless the Wornkey & Martinez families. God watch over Eric & Darren & Mikki.

Forever more

Eric will be with us forever in memories. He was kind hearted and loving, generous, mischievous and funny. He was a unique man who will never be replaced. We will join again in heaven and until then we will always have him in our hearts. Many thanks for the memories and the love, my dear son.

June 2007
TWO years ago we buried our dear Eric. Some days I just wait, knowing he will walk through the door. It has to be some mistake. Other days I just cry, knowing he really is gone..forever in this lifetime. It breaks my heart to know I will never hear his voice again, never hear him laugh. Our family goes on, because we have no choice, but the hurt will always be in our hearts. We thank God for the gift of Eric, and pray that we can all be strong enough to endure the pain of losing this wonderful, funny, ornery , loving , tender man. Every day I am grateful for the gift of family and friends. I know now how very special they are.

TRINITY RAYE REEVES was born today. She weighed 3 lb. 15 oz. and was 17 3/4 inches. She was born 5 weeks early but, like her uncle, she's a toughie.  Tracy is doing well, but her blood pressure needs to stabelize. God watch over this little family.
